Who we are

Centrafrique Check, formerly known as the Association of Fact-Checkers of the Central African Republic, is a media organization specializing in fact-checking. It was established following a series of training sessions organized in 2019 by Internews-RCA for 65 Central African journalists and bloggers on fact-checking. On April 10, 2020, four journalists and three bloggers were selected for a six-month practical internship in fact-checking. During this advanced training, the team deemed it necessary to form an association to independently combat misinformation and rumors in the Central African Republic. On July 28, 2023, this association changed its name and became a Non-Governmental Media Organization after three years and five months of experience in writing and publishing verified information.

CAC operates with complete independence and impartiality according to the ethics and journalism code in the Central African Republic;

CAC works solely in the interest of the general public who consumes the information, not for a specific group of individuals;
CAC does not accept money from any source;
CAC does not work under the influence of any editorial line imposed by any partner.
