This information has gone viral and is widely shared verbally in the districts of Bangui and in several WhatsApp groups.
In a WhatsApp group, a message concerning Air France states: “Suspension of Air France flights to Bangui until further notice.”
A team from Désintox Afrique-RCA reached out to the Air France office in Bangui and the French Embassy to verify this rumor.
Julien Musseau, communications officer at the French Embassy in Bangui, dismissed this information: “It’s absolutely false; France has not suspended Air France flights to Bangui.”
At the Air France office in Bangui, several people encountered referred to the rumors as baseless.
The Désinfox Afrique-RCA team also spoke with a traveler on May 10, 2022, who refuted the claim: “I am scheduled to take an Air France flight on May 11, 2022, to Paris, but there has been no alert about any suspension. I just checked in.” Remy Djamouss reported.
In conclusion, various checks with credible sources confirm that this rumor about the suspension of Air France flights to Bangui is false.
