Published in April and still circulating, this highly viral information has been shared numerous times in WhatsApp groups. The content states: “Do not drink a cold beverage after eating a mango; the combination forms a deadly poison in the body.”

Verification:

When contacted by phone, Dr. Mbary Siollo Mada Bebelou, Head of the Nutrition and Food Hygiene Department at the Ministry of Health, completely dismissed this claim: “This is not true; you can drink cold water or a cold beverage after eating a mango. There are no health consequences,” he said.

Dr. Kosh Komba Jess-Elio, a general practitioner, oncologist, and pediatrician, also refuted the claim in an interview with Centrafrique Check, stating: “This is false information. Drinking a cold beverage, whether it’s alcohol or water, after eating a mango has no harmful effects on the body; in fact, they complement each other.”

It is worth noting that this information surfaced during mango season in the Central African Republic, where mangoes are considered one of the most popular fruits among the population. This period is also characterized by hot weather.

Conclusion:

The claim that drinking a cold beverage after eating a mango constitutes a deadly poison is false, as verified by Centrafrique Check.
