The claim that the Bambari prosecutor, Olivier Bombo, was severely beaten by Russian forces, as reported by Corbeaux News, is misinformation

An information completely rejected by the authorities in Bambari

Quick Verification:

A post on Facebook by the page “Corbeau News Centrafrique” on June 28, 2022, which garnered some likes and shares, claimed that “the prosecutor of Bambari, in the Ouaka prefecture, a city located 376 km from Bangui, was beaten up.” This information is false, according to the prosecutor Olivier Bombo, the prefect of Ouaka, and the president of the local peace committee in Bambari.

Detailed Verification:

In an interview with the AFC, Olivier Bombo, the prosecutor in Bambari, denied being beaten, stating: “All these claims are false and fictional. I have been in Bangui since Sunday, July 17, 2022, attending a seminar organized by the World Bank for the Regional School of Magistrates. How could I be in Bangui and at the same time in Bambari? These are radically false and baseless statements.”

Victor Bissekoin, the prefect of the Ouaka prefecture, also refuted these allegations: “No, the prosecutor of Bambari has never been troubled by the Russian forces present in our city, and therefore, I do not believe this information,” he said.

In a phone interview with AFC, Jeannot Nguernendji, president of the local peace committee in Bambari (Ouaka), rejected this information: “No, prosecutor Olivier was not beaten by the Russians. There is peace in Bambari; this allegation is meant to undermine the efforts of the allies who have effectively contributed to the return of peace in Bambari.”

Since the arrival of Russian forces in the Central African Republic, in support of the FACA, various allegations have surfaced on social media about degrading treatments of the civilian population. Such is the case with the claim that the prosecutor of Ouaka (Bambari) was beaten by the Russians, as reported by Corbeau News. However, after verification by the AFC, this information is false and lacks tangible evidence.
